Why I Care About College Affordability

And why you should too

I grew up in a part of California where going to college was not the norm, it was the exception. This fact was reinforced by the vast income inequality, lack of resources and opportunities in the community that I grew up in.  

The contrast this created between my college experience and the life I had lived the previous 18 years before was profound. The types of people I met, their life experiences, the opportunities they had, the opportunities that were now available to me, left me walking around the campus of Duke University my freshman year, with it’s Gothic architecture and manicured lawns, in awe.
