We've earned another major endorsement: AFSCME 1902

I’m incredibly proud to announce that AFSCME Local 1902—the union representing the essential workers who power and protect Southern California’s water systems—has endorsed my campaign for California State Senate. This endorsement means so much to me. AFSCME Local 1902 members are on the front lines every day—engineers, meter technicians, inspectors, mechanics, and IT professionals—working to keep our communities running safely and reliably.

This past weekend, I had the honor of joining Labor Day events across our community—celebrating working people and recommitting to the fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, and respect on the job. Just days after Labor Day, I’m especially proud to announce that AFSCME Local 1902—the union representing the essential workers who power and protect Southern California’s water systems—has endorsed my campaign for California State Senate.

This endorsement means so much. AFSCME Local 1902 members are on the front lines every day—engineers, meter technicians, inspectors, mechanics, and IT professionals—working to keep our communities running safely and reliably.

"For decades, AFSCME Local 1902 has fought to ensure working people are treated with dignity and respect—on the job and in the communities we serve. Sara Hernandez understands that public servants are the backbone of California. Her record of advocacy, from the classroom to the courtroom to the boardroom, shows that she will be a champion for working families in Sacramento.”

Alan Shanahan, President, AFSCME Local 1902

Their support isn’t just meaningful—it’s personal. Unions like AFSCME lift entire communities by defending the dignity of work and investing in the systems that keep California strong.

This endorsement adds to our growing coalition of labor champions, community leaders, and everyday Californians who believe in Sara’s people-first campaign, centered on:

  • 🏠 Affordable Housing

  • 🌿 Environmental Resilience

  • 💼 Good Union Jobs

  • 🎓 Equitable Access to Opportunity
